As Open Farm Sunday moves into its seventh year, organisers LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) are encouraging more farmers than ever to open their gates on the 17th June.
    • Consumer Diary Note for Open Farm Sunday 2012
Farmers across the country are inviting everyone on Open Farm Sunday (17th June) to come and discover more about food and farming.
    • Sixth Open Farm Sunday a Success
As thousands of people discovered life on Britain’s farms, LEAF’s Open Farm Sunday (12 June 2011) has been declared a major success, despite some parts of the country receiving more than half an inch of rain that day.
    • Discover the rich language of Britain’s farms
With hundreds of farms opening their gates this Sunday (12 June), families across the country will have a chance to discover life on Britain’s farms. But as well as seeing real farming at first hand it appears there is something else to discover – the wonderful dialect of Britain’s countryside. Local words and phrases are often nowadays toned down or forgotten completely, but a survey of LEAF farmers ahead of Open Farm Sunday reveals that farms are truly keeping regional dialect alive.
    • Confused about the Countryside
Britain is a nation of townies, blissfully unaware about the wildlife and nature on our doorstep, reveals a new survey by farming charity LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming). Fifteen per cent of adults didn’t know that a dairy cow is female, half weren’t aware that robins live in the UK all year round and one in five didn’t know that acorns come from oak trees.

    • Invitation for farmers to host an Open Farm Sunday event 2011
Farmers are being encouraged to open their gates next June for Open Farm Sunday (12 June 2011). This is a fantastic opportunity for farmers to show consumers how they produce the food we eat and manage our countryside. Organised by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), Open Farm Sunday helps the public discover and understand the story behind their food, and the dedication and skill of the farmers who produce it, while caring for the environment. With so much to experience on every farm, this year’s theme is: ‘Discover Life on Britain’s Farms’.
